Did I Really Die? Resurrection (Conclusion to the Pit)

Rooster prating

Cat lurking

Water sprinkling

Junk rusting

Tarp filling

Bricks groaning

Death looming

Markie D screaming

"Help...anyone, save me! Save me!  Tommy... Kippy... Joey... Ricky.. Denny... Mrs. Nargie.. .EDNA! Help!" I desperately cried to an hollow universe that swallowed my words.

I wiggled and violently wormed my body in hopes of escape to no avail.  I WAS DOOMED!  Any second the groaning concrete-blocks (that had been strategically placed on top of the yellow tarp)  had been inching dangerously inward and were now precariously perched on the inside lip of my prison cell ready to come crashing down on my head.

"Help!" I gasped with my last dying breath!

Just then the back door squeaked open as if the universe heard my plea for help and responded.

Hope!   Hope! Alas...HOPE!

I was saved... I could see a shadowy figure through the small crack in the concrete blocks that had been built up around me. Shoes were the only thing I could see.

"Hel..." With the word help, half way out of my mouth I stopped and angrily clenched my teeth at the universe that mocked my pain.

I recognized the shiny brown shoes that descended the back porch stairs.
Things did get WORSE! This had turned into a fate worse than death.

The agent of my rescue was none other than Jerry T. T. (see previous post ).

My warm blood tuned as cold as ice as I bit my tongue and wished for death instead.  I was alone and buried in a pit - defenseless - trapped and "Jerry The Toucher" came to investigate the bizarre anomaly of the sprinkler that was left to water boats and cars and old sofas and a giant Nut Cracker soldier and all the other junk, but no lawn.

Jerry walked over, turned the water off and then looked in my direction. I froze and begged for death. I would rather be found dead than discovered by the scary creature who now stared in my direction.

Jerry took a long curious look at the concrete igloo with the yellow tarp that had been collecting water and noticed how the concrete blocks were on the verge of falling in.  Out of curiosity he began navigating his way through all the treasured junk as he headed in my direction.  Not knowing whether he could see the little kid buried inside...I gulped silently and held my breath - now condemning the universe for its horrible trick.

The Veloci-Raptor had quietly moved in behind Jerry T.T. blocking off his exit as though it were an ambush. The predator had become the hunted! Like cowboys (on a TV Western) Jerry was trapped in a box canyon and the nasty looking beast's beak seemed to turn up at the edges with a sinister grin as the cat in the window gave an approving nod.

Trapped, Jerry turned and faced the dreaded Rooster.  Jerry picked up a chair, but could not defend himself against the onslaught of the Raptor's sharp talons.

Feathers flew as the relentless Attack-Bird did its worst to poor Jerry!

Justice!  Justice!  Thank you...Whoever is up there!  Thank you Rooster!

Bloodied and battered Jerry screeched like a little girl and made his way into the house!

I was at least saved from Jerry T.T. The water was off. The tarp quit collecting water. The bricks quit inching inward. I head would not be bashed in. My skull would not be crushed.

I had made a new friend in the ugly Rooster and could go quietly to my death.

I wrestled and squirmed and twisted and contorted my little body until thoroughly exhausted; resigning myself to death I closed my eyes and bid the world good bye. Patrolling my concrete cubical of death was my new friend the rooster as, Lazarus, the miracle cat looked on. In the darkness of closed eyes, I wondered if I had used up all nine of my lives - and wondered if my Guarding Angel could get me out of this one - and if I had used up all the magic from saying Sister Edith's prayer one too many times.

I drifted into sweet unconsciousness...and let the universe have it's way.

Good bye Wolf Pack... you won!
Good bye Lennon Sisters...
Good bye Tommy...
Good bye mom and dad...
Good bye alligator...
Good bye Saint Mark's...

Good bye!
